This is a hands on course and I hope you will find yourselves making some significant strides in achieving your goals as you research and document your family lines.
Our goal will be to have each of you ready to make a temple submission by the time the class is completed. We have three months to accomplish this so there will be time for you to thoroughly understand each lesson before we proceed. When you have questions please feel free to ask.
I have a list of Genealogy links at the right that you are welcome to use. I encourage you to read through the second link, How to Start Your Family History.
After you have read the material in that link please begin the lessons in the third link, Finding Your Ancestors.... The third and fourth links are on-line classes from BYU and there is no charge for either of them.
I will be making assignment from these BYU lessons which you should do at home or at the Stake Genealogy Library. We will discuss them in class and answer any questions you may have.
After you finish the lessons in the third link please go to the lessons on Providing Temple Ordinances in the fourth link.
There is a link where you can download Personal Ancestral File (PAF) which is the genealogy program we will be using during this class. There is no charge for the program. There are many other genealogy programs available for a charge but PAF is an excellent program and since it is provided without charge from the Church and works seamlessly with the IGI, Temple Ready, etc. I encourage you to download it and use it for your records.
The remaining links are for your use as you research your ancestors. Some have a charge to use them while others do not. I included even the subscription sites because some of you may decide you want to use one or more of them. Many of the sites that do not charge are excellent research sites. During the class I will point out the ones I have found to be most helpful. Your input will also be welcome.
I will be adding links as I find them and if you find any links that do not work please let me know so I can fix them.
